How to join Edge Grove Your Admissions Journey
It is our aim at Edge Grove to ensure that your Admissions journey at Edge Grove is straightforward and bespoke to you and your family. We are here to help you every step of your journey from first enquiry to your child – and your family – joining the School. Below are the different steps in the process.
STEP 1:
Enquire:
Do get in touch with us, either via this website, via email, or, best of all via a telephone call (01923 855724) during which our friendly Admissions Team will guide you through the process, and answer any questions you may have. Our Admissions Team is available all year round and would be delighted to have an informal conversation about how we might be able to support your child’s admissions journey.
STEP 2:
Visit Us
Your first visit to the School may be at one of our termly Open Mornings, or on a private visit – however you choose to visit Edge Grove for the first time, you can be sure you will receive a warm welcome from staff and pupils alike! When you visit, you will meet the Headmaster, Mr Richard Stanley, our Admissions Team and other members of staff relevant to your child(ren)’s age.
This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s education to date, their interests and abilities, your hopes for their education, and what you are looking for in a school. It is also the time to explore our extensive site and impressive facilities. Should you not live near the School, we are happy to arrange this initial meeting online.
STEP 3:
Register for a Place
We advise that you register your interest for your child to join Edge Grove as early as possible. Our Admissions Team will then keep you informed about dates for assessments and the availability of places in your child’s year group. At this point we request the payment of a non-refundable Registration Fee (£120).
Once we have received your completed Registration Form and payment, we will process your application you will move to the next step in the School’s Admissions process.
STEP 4:
Taster Session
Children joining Year 1 and above will come to Edge Grove for a morning / day and experience a day with their peers. We will allocate your child a buddy for the day who will show them the ropes and help them get a good taste of what they can expect should they join the School and ensure they feel welcomed and supported throughout their time with us.
Children looking for an occasional place in Year 3 or above will sit an online test in Maths and English to ensure they have the academic potential to cope with the demands of the Edge Grove curriculum. It also helps us to assess whether we are able to offer appropriate support to children with any additional learning needs. We will also ask for a reference from your child’s current school, and a copy of their most recent school report.
Children spending a morning or day with us will take part in a range of vibrant lessons, meet our dedicated teachers, and make new friends, all while enjoying the dynamic atmosphere that abounds at Edge Grove. By the end of their time with us, they will leave with excitement and a better understanding of what Edge Grove may be able to offer them.
We hold Group Assessment Mornings for pupils joining Nursery and Reception; if places are available we may offer individual assessments at different times of the year.
In the year preceding admission to the School – 4+ assessments are usually held in late September / October and 3+ in the Spring Term.
Step 5:
Offer of a Place
At the end of your child’s Taster Day or Morning, we hope to be in a position to offer them a place, and hope you will be confident that Edge Grove is the right school for them and your family. Subject to availability, offers will be made within 48 hours of a successful assessment or Taster Day, and will also depend on receiving a positive school reference (where applicable).
Your offer letter will include an Acceptance Form and a copy of Edge Grove’s Terms and Conditions.
You will be asked to secure your child’s place by acceptance of our offer, in conjunction with our Terms and Conditions, and paying a deposit, part of which is credited towards the first term’s fees and the remainder refunded when your child leaves the School.
Please note this deposit is non-refundable if your child does not join the School after accepting the place
Step 6:
Congratulations and Welcome: Now you and your child are a part of the Edge Grove family!
