Preparation for Senior School
Preparation for Senior Schools starts early at Edge Grove, as we know that choosing your child’s senior school can seem complicated and daunting; rest assured, we are here to support both your child and you as parents as you navigate the senior school admissions process. We support parents through regular presentations about the process, our annual Future Schools Fair, the Senior Schools Handbook and individual one-to-one consultations with parents about your child.
We enjoy excellent relationships with Admissions teams at a wide variety of senior schools, and Senior Department staff keep up to date with changes to schools’ Admissions policies and procedures.
Whether you are considering single sex or co-educational, day or boarding, independent or state, we can offer you advice every step of the way. We lay on a number of different events to help guide you through the process, including information evenings hosted by our own and senior school staff, and our annual Senior Schools Fair, attended by in excess of 40 local and national schools. Throughout this journey, the School will work in partnership with you as parents to ensure that you have all the information needed to make informed decisions about your child’s onward journey from Edge Grove.
We fully prepare children for entrance assessments that may be sat in Years 6, 7 or 8. Our academically rigorous curriculum prepares the pupils throughout their journey throughout the School. Additional reasoning lessons are introduced in Year 5. Our wide co-curricular offering and pastoral support help develop the pupils outside of the classroom. Pupils are given regular opportunities throughout the year to develop their oracy skills which build confidence to tackle interviews.
It is important to note that Edge Grove is NOT a feeder school for any particular senior school, and we are justifiably proud that over the last five years our pupils have moved onto in excess of 80 different senior schools, locally, nationally and internationally. As as school, we want to help you find the school that is right for YOUR child, where they will thrive and be happy.
