Open Morning

Welcome to Edge Grove

Welcome to our first Open Morning of 2025, a very special year, during which we will celebrate our 90th birthday.

We hope that our Open Morning gives you all the information you need, but just in case, this page is home to some useful reminders as well as information about the next steps in your admissions journey.

The Edge Grove Admissions Team ism of course, more than happy to help you with any queries you may have at any point – just email us on admissions@edgegrove.com or call us on 01923 855724.

What makes Edge Grove special?

At Edge Grove we ensure our pupils are exposed to a wide range of experiences and develop confidence in a challenging, creative and inspirational environment. At our school, opportunity matters; sport, music, drama are all fully inclusive and pupils are encouraged to participate in all spheres of school life,  whatever their ability. There really is something for everyone! Twenty five different sports are played at school including girls’ cricket, football and mixed hockey. Over forty five after-school activities are offered each week until 5.30pm. There are three choirs, a rock band,  plenty of ensembles and productions for every pupil in all year groups.

Edge Grove pupils are independent, resilient, have an adventurous spirit, good manners and respect for others. We suit parents who value a school which offers academic excellence plus inclusive sport, music drama and technology alongside a genuine commitment to good manners and traditional social skills.

Creativity is at the core of everything we do, encouraging children to understand themselves, discover and explore their unique qualities and grow in confidence and self-worth. Whether it is getting their hands dirty in the Food Technology Kitchen, in our Forest School, in the Art Room creating a modern masterpiece or on the sports field, making their own history, Edge Grove children acquire qualities that will form their character and personalities.

Edge Grove is both truly unique in the local area and forward-thinking in its ethos.

What Others Say

Whilst choosing a school is a very personal decision for your child and for your family as a whole, it is always useful to read what others say.  Below, you can read impartial reports written by reviewers for The Good Schools Guide, the most established directory of school reviews, and for Muddy Stilettos, the lifestyle website.  You can also read the most recent ISI Inspection from March 2023.

Admissions Process

We have aimed to keep our Admissions Process as straightforward as possible for you, and our friendly Admissions team prides themselves on getting to know you as a family; we will support you every step of the way, from first enquiry, through visit, assessment, offer, acceptance all the way to your child’s first day at Edge Grove.

Below are the different steps in the process:

Step 1

Do get in touch with us, either via this website, via email, or, best of all via a telephone call (01923 855724) during which our friendly Admissions Team will guide you through the process, and answer any questions you may have.  Our Admissions Team is available all year round and would be delighted to have an informal conversation about how we might be able to support your child’s admissions journey.

Step 2

Your first visit to the School may be at one of our termly Open Mornings, or on a private visit – however you choose to visit Edge Grove for the first time, you can be sure you will receive a warm welcome from staff and pupils alike! When you visit, you will meet the Headmaster, Mr Richard Stanley, our Admissions Team and other members of staff relevant to your child(ren)’s age.

Step 3

We advise that you register your interest for your child to join Edge Grove as early as possible. Our Admissions Team will then keep you informed about dates for assessments and the availability of places in your child’s year group. At this point we request the payment of a non-refundable Registration Fee (£120).

Once we have received your completed Registration Form and payment, we will process your application you will move to the next step in the School’s Admissions process.

Step 4

Children joining Year 1 and above will come to Edge Grove for a morning / day and experience a day with their peers. We will allocate your child a buddy for the day who will show them the ropes and help them get a good taste of what they can expect should they join the School and ensure they feel welcomed and supported throughout their time with us.

Step 5

At the end of your child’s Taster Day or Morning, we hope to be in a position to offer them a place, and hope you will be confident that Edge Grove is the right school for them and your family. Subject to availability, offers will be made within 48 hours of a successful assessment or Taster Day, and will also depend on receiving a positive school reference (where applicable).

Step 6

Congratulations and welcome, you and your child are now members of the Edge Grove family!
